Summer is in full swing and productions from all over have been busy filming a variety of exciting projects across the borough. From music videos to major feature films, the Tower Hamlets Film Office, managed by The Film Office has seen it all this season. We’ve curated some recent highlights below!
Derelict Leisure Centre Proves to be a Versatile Space!
Earlier this summer, 2 productions have taken to one of our newest locations, the Derelict Leisure Centre in Wapping. This location has provided an interesting and edgy background for both rock band Dream Wife’s new music video and a promo video for Footlocker collab with Xbox Game ‘Red Fall’ which you can check out here! Beth Elliott, the Film Officer on the job said, “It’s fabulous to see a council asset be used for cool projects to bring revenue into the borough and showcase that Tower Hamlets continues to be the place to film!”.
An Unlikely Location Gets ‘Superstar’ Treatment
Earlier this year Swedish singer and influencer, Bianca Ingrosso visited our Derelict Warehouse location to film the ‘Superstar’ music video made for the collaboration between CAIA Cosmetics and MTV, by CAIA Music. This location has often been used as a backdrop for gritty crime dramas with it’s industrial features and grimy interior but seeing it used as a setting for a glamorous music video just goes to show how versatile it is! This production also filmed on some of the boroughs streets such as Corbridge Crescent, Poyser Street, Grove Passage and Hare Row. Check out the music video below!
Heart of Stone
Spy action thriller ‘Heart of Stone’ is next on Netflix’s roster of original films this summer. The film follows Rachel Stone, played by Gal Gadot, an intelligence operative for a shadowy global peacekeeping agency as she races to stop a hacker from stealing its most valuable and dangerous weapon.
The production rolled into town last summer to film scenes at the ever popular Victoria Park in the east side by the Burdett-Coutts Fountain, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled for this iconic view when the film hits Netflix on August 11th! Here at the Tower Hamlets Film Office, Managed by the Film Office, we’re no stranger to Netflix choosing to film at our locations with hundreds of Netflix shoots having taken place over the last few years. Heart of Stone was added to our list of smooth sailing Netflix productions to visit the borough.

Kraven The Hunter
Another Marvel film is set to hit cinemas in October this year, ‘Kraven The Hunter’, follows one of the MCU’s most iconic villains on how he came to be. When Marvel comes to town there is always a buzz of excitement and we are always thrilled to welcome them to the borough.
The production filmed scenes on Wapping High Street and a 2-week stint in The Pumping Station, for which they dressed the space as a gallery and upmarket office. We also facilitated a large amount of unit base parking for the production across multiple of our unit base sites such as Tobacco Dock and Brussels Wharf which help facilitate shoots both in the borough and pan-London.
